During the 1970s, the name “Bollywood” was coined. Previously, Indian films were simply referred to as “Indian cinema.” The 1950s were the heyday of Indian cinema. That was back when movies were only available in black and white. Technicolor made its way into the industry before the end of the decade.

There are now radio stations dedicated solely to retro music. The singers sang from their hearts back then. Deep, profound lines were written by lyricists.

To develop amazing compositions, music directors cooperated with a large number of musicians. It’s not that today’s artists don’t write complex songs; it’s just that it was more common in the past.

Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, and Lata started their careers during this time. Talat Mahmood, Hemant Kumar, and Geeta Dutt were already among the greatest at the time, while Shamshad Begum was regarded as a legend.

So, dance and have a good time while listening to these amazing songs!

1. Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar

This is a song from the film Hum Dono. Leela Chitnis, Dev Anand, Nanda, and Sadhana Shivdasani acted in this film. This film was a huge success.

The duet was performed by Asha Bhosle and Mohammad Rafi. The song’s lyrics were written by Sahir Ludhianvi, a well-known songwriter.

Jaidev’s music proved to be a valuable contribution to the film. It’s a timeless tune. This song’s romance is truly unique for couples.

2. Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein

Mukesh, a well-known playback singer who has received multiple awards in the music industry, delivered this exotic ancient love song.

The song is from the Bollywood film Kabhi Kabhie, which was released in 1976. The song contains two fantastic actors, Amitabh Bachchan and Raakhee, and it is about their undying love for one another.

If you haven’t heard this song yet, put down whatever you’re doing and give it a listen. Here’s a link to the article:

3. Hothon Se Chhu Lo Tum

This ghazal from the film Prem Geet (1981), one of his first encounters with Bollywood, helped the art form break out of its niche and gain widespread appeal.

It’s begging for a lover to love them back from a lovestruck person.

4. Tumko Dekha Toh Ye Khayal Aaya

Singh established his reputation as India’s ghazal king with this gem from the 1982 film Saath Saath. It was one of the most pivotal events in his nearly three-decade Bollywood career.

PS: Singh’s wife Chitra is also credited with singing on this heartfelt ode.

5. Aap Ki Aankhon Mein Kuch

Ghar’s Aap Ki Ankhon Mein Kuch is a song from the film Ghar (1978). Gulzar wrote the lyrics and R.D. Burman composed the music for the song.

Vinod Mehra and Rekha are featured in the song. The way this song has been sung has a fascinating and eerie beauty to it.

6. Din Dhal Jaaye

It was created by renowned S.D. Burman and Mohammed Rafi provided wonderful vocals. With this song, he created magic. Because it had such an impact, people still remember this song.

7. Chaudhvin Ka Chand Ho

Any man might entice his lady out of a mood with this Ravi-composed ghazal written by the great Shakeel Badayuni.

Waheeda Rehman, who says modestly, “Itni tareef kare to koi bhi aurat pighal Jaye,” was given the honor of having the ultimate love song sung to her on the big screen. Rafisaab sang the words as if he owned them, thanks to Shakeel Sahab’s exquisite love poetry.

The rest of the movie was shot in black-and-white, which was interesting. This was the only song in which color was used.

8. Raat Kali Ek Khwab Mein

R.D. Burman composed the song, which was sung by the multi-talented Kishore Kumar. It’s lovely and poetic. Once you’ve heard it, you’ll never forget it. This music has a lasting impression on you.

9. Hai Apna Dil Toh Awara

Hemant can show off his lighter side in Hai Apna Dil Toh Awara, which is a long cry from the romantic tenderness of Yeh Nayan dare-dare and the melancholy of Jaane woh kaise log the.

This one is charmingly flirty, and Hemant’s smooth and oh-so-beautiful voice is the perfect foil for Dev Anand’s equally appealing performance.

It’s no surprise that he has everyone (or nearly everyone) in the compartment grinning at him!
