From the last six months, the world is facing a global crisis of the decade. With the rising cases of Covid-19, every country took necessary steps toward controlling the spread of the virus. Since Corona is transmittable, it was suggested to keep social distancing and advised to work from home. During the initial period of crises, every institution got severely affected, students and job holder’s career were in jeopardy. A complete lockdown was observed in many countries.

Among all the measures, the government also advised its citizens to use social media platforms, to reconnect with their respective jobs. In response, many social networking sites came into the highlight, like Google Meet, Zoom, hangout, Skype, etc., in support of better communications between addresser and the addressee. Zoom is the one platform that is quite popular among students as well as office workers. Mostly students were the one who used and still using this platform frequently to continue with their academics.

Zoom

Zoom is an American based company, founded by Eric Yuan in the year 2011. It headquartered in San Jose, California. Zoom, to look after the business scale and other affairs in India, hired Velchamy Sankarlingam from VMWare in May. A few months back, the Indian government has declared Zoom, an unsafe platform for communication, and asked its citizens to minimize its usage, to avoid unnecessary calamities.

Clearing all the above-laid allegations, Zoom confirmed that our platform is completely safe and trustable. There was another controversy going on about Zoom- China connections; in that matter, Sankarlingam, through a blog post, told that they have companies in China, like any other multinational company, and it does not make Zoom, trouble for Indians in any case.
By observing its popularity in India, recently, Zoom has taken its big decision, it announces that soon it will be opening its technology centre in Bengaluru, to expand its business in India. It also confirms that it will recruit ‘key talents.’ Officials also said that approximately it would take five whole years, to complete the mission.

It would be interesting to see the reaction of the Indian Government towards this humongous step by the Zoom authority in India after all the allegations. On the other hand, the JioMeet App which is the Indian version of Zoom App has also started making its place in the market where Zoom enjoyed monopoly till now. This will encourage healthy competition in the market and while users will be able to get options for their online work system.
