Gearing up their protests and weighing it a bit more this time, farmers across India have called for the Nationwide 24 hours halt backed by the several farmer bodies who are responsible for preserving their rights. The strike has been called in by the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), All India Kisan Mahasangha (AIKM) and Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) against the Farmers bill. Bihar too saw in huge numbers protestors on streets in the support of the poor farmers to which the bills seem quite apprehensive in nature.

Rashtriya Janta Dal’s (RJD) leader Tej Pratap Yadav today carried forwarded the protest in Patna along with his brother Tejaswi Pratap Yadav. During the protest, the Patnaites and other Biharis who joined have told the media of several drawbacks the bill holds. They said that the Farmers are the backbone of our society and the recent farmer’s bills passed by the Union Government are a step in the wrong direction. It’s time we all stand for what’s right. Together let’s impress upon the Centre to pull back this anti-farmer bill.
“The bill had promised to double farmers’ income by 2022 but these farm bills will make them poorer.” RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav said attacking the government over the new Unconstitutional Farmers Bill in an interview with the ANI.

“The Government has made our ‘anndata’ a puppet through its ‘funda data’. The farm bills are anti-farmer and have left them dejected. The government had said that they’ll double farmers’ income by 2022 but these bills will make them poorer. The agriculture sector has been corporatized.” Tejaswi added.
“The bill is undoubtedly unconstitutional in nature and has been passed in the parliament without even thinking about the toiling farmers. If there were discussions and debates already going on over these three bills, it would not have been arbitrarily passed without votes. The bill itself comes with a lot of loopholes and drawbacks which will not fill the void in the agriculture sectors but will make the already dilapidated farming industry go worse. Leaving the masses in oblivion, the bill pulls the strings to a Laissez-faire market, with no Minimum Support Price, this will be a catastrophe for the farming industry to fall prey to more individual players, who are ready to exploit the market further. Large gigantic companies then will start purchasing the product in bulk as per their own wish. This will lead to stocking the production, hoarding and black marketing. The bill only pushes the farmers from one cruel hand to the other enslaving them in the hands of big private companies.” Said Dr Mashkoor Ahmad Usmani, Political Activist and a former President of the Aligarh Muslim University in an Interview with TSA.
Amidst all this, Bihar’s CM Nitish Kumar supported the bill and said that the bill purposely has been portrayed in a false way in order to mislead our Indian farmers. The parliament has passed the bills only to favour the farmers and it is for their interest. “We had started this earlier. There was no procurement in Bihar, we started it and the work we have done earlier and somebody else is taking it forward in the country, I don’t think misinformation should be spread. The bills are in the interest of the farmers.” CM Nitish stated.
The two Bills– Farmers’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and the farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price assurance and Farm services Bill, 2020– is said to free farmers from the chains of APMC.
