Under the pseudonymous Robert Galbraith, J.K. Rowling’s The Cuckoo’s Calling is crime fiction. It is the first novel in the Cormoran Strike series of detective novels.
After serving the army in Afghanistan and being seriously injured Cormoran Strike comes back to work as a struggling private investigator. He is approached by supermodel, Lula Landry’s adoptive brother to investigate her suicide which he believes to be her murder. Cormoran’s struggle with his turmoiled childhood and his relationship with his assistant Robin comes up beautifully in the novel. Rowling has made sure that the nail-biting thriller keeps you on the edge of your seat.

A Thousand Splendid Suns
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khalid Hosseini is a must-read. It’s a beautiful novel focusing mainly on the relationship between Mariam and Laila, mother and daughter. The narration is so marvellously done that the characters seem alive and you feel like you are watching a movie. It takes you an emotional journey of the Afghani women and their struggles due to the Taliban invasion and by the end of it, you are left with awe on the heroic actions of Mariam and Laila.

Murder On The Orient Express is a detective novel by Agatha Christie featuring Hercule Poirot. Poirot is a fictional Belgian detective Christie created. Poirot is the most famous character of Christie. She used him in her 33 novels, 2 plays and more than 50 short stories.
One train, twelve passengers and murder of a brutal criminal. The Orient Express gets stopped by a snowdrift and the murder shocks the entire train. Poirot knowing well that the murderer is still on the train started interrogating which lead him to some great revelations.

A book recommendation list couldn’t be complete without Harry Potter, period.
But I cannot do justice in describing this book. It’s my and million others’ absolute favourite. It’s a book that can be read by people of all ages with the exact same interest. Just give it a chance and you’ll know what I am talking about. It’s all magic, LITERALLY!!
