The AAP leader Raghav Chadda and Delhi Jal Board chairman said the water supply in Delhi would disrupted due to the recent spike in ammonia level detected on Monday and Tuesday in the Yamuna, as against the acceptable unit. The level soaring up 7.3 ppm (parts per million) at the Wazirabad, Yamuna area, the limit mentioned by Delhi Jal Board is 0.5ppm.
Haryana government is being blamed by AAP leader Raghav Chadda because the Yamuna flows from Haryana to Delhi, which has an industrial unit in Sonipat for manufacturing plastic, dyes, and several fertilizers.
For this, the Haryana State Pollution Control Board said they started the inspection process in all the industrial units, but haven’t found any major violation yet.
The consequences of increasing the level of ammonia in water have been impacting the water supply in Delhi; we have received insufficient water than we deserve, the AAP leader Raghav Chadda said.
Haryana’s DJB said they have taken necessary measures to overcome the level of ammonia and also increased our capacity to treat the situation as soon as possible.
Several officials of the Haryana government have announced they would soon start a tendering process for constructing pipelines that separate both the drains and prevent mixing.
Recently, water minister Satyendar Jain has said, ozone-based plants for withstanding ammonia levels above 4 should be installed at Chandarwal and Wazirabad area.
