A video from Hisar, Haryana goes viral in which Sonali Phogat, a BJP leader is seen beating an official. This landed her in big controversy and trouble as it surfaces the internet. The official she is beating with chappal was Balsaman Market Committee Secretary Sultan Singh.
Sonali Phogat is a TikTok star-turned-BJP leader who contested the 2019’s Haryana Assembly elections from Adampur and lost to Congress Kuldeep Bishnoi.
In the video, Sonali is seen accusing Sultan Singh and simultaneously beating him. “Am I working to hear abuses from people like you? Do I not have the right to a dignified life. You…you have no right to live,” she says in an undated video.
Police reveal later to the media that Phogat told them that Sultan Singh used “indecent, derogatory language”.Sonali Phogat in her defends said that Singh misbehaved with her by calling her names amidst her visit to the village’s market committee. She had made her visit there to help resolve farmer’s grievances related to difficulties in crop sales and lack of a shed to protect stocks from rain. She further alleges that Singh went on to making unfound allegations against her which were indecent and in retaliation she lost her temperament.
Whereas Sultan Singh has a different version of a story. He said that when he learnt that Sonali Phogat had come to the market, he attended her and heard her concerns. Sultan Singh said he noted down all her requests and assured settling of all the queries with quick action.
“But then suddenly, Sonali Phogat called me on the side alone and accused me of rebelling against her during assembly elections and started beating me,” Singh said.
“She later made up the story about me abusing her and all this matter started. The entire Phogat’s people held me at gunpoint” he added
Sultan Singh has also alleged that few people from BJP have threatened him at a gunpoint and made him write an apology letter with a video of him accepting his fault.
Both Singh and Phogat have a different story of the same incident. Police is enquiring into the matter now.
