With the nation-wide Unlock-1, the national capital has decided on reserving some hospitals, both private and government only for Delhi people specifically the residents.
Ever since the Markaz Nizamuddin incident marked its outbreak amid coronavirus, Delhi has been striving hard to fight the everyday spike in the confirmed cases. From the last week, again the number of coronavirus patients has risen by thousands each day.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said, “For now, we have decided that 10,000 beds under the Delhi government will be kept for residents. The beds under the Central government can be used by all. Private hospitals covering special treatment will be opened to all.”
Delhi opens its borders from today with no clue of another rise it might have to face. As for now, the number of total cases to more than 27,000 which is a dire matter of concern.
The decision of The CM was made after consulting five experts committee of doctors in Delhi. The committee after taking the present scenario in mind concluded that the national capital by the end of June will need 15000 beds.
“They believe that 9000 beds that are currently with us will be taken over in three days if we allow people from other states to take admission,” Kejriwal said at a virtual press conference.
In that virtual press-conference, he sought advice from the residents over the decision taken. On which more than 85% of the residents agreed to the decision.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Government’s decision has been criticized by the leaders from the other states. The oppositions both BJP and Congress backfired stating it to be a “discriminative policy” and an “insensitive move” by Delhi Government.
Mayawati said, “Delhi is the national capital and people from all across the country come here for various reasons. If an outsider falls sick in Delhi, he will be denied treatment saying he is not a local resident. This is very unfortunate and the Centre should intervene.”
Delhi Congress president Anil Kumar said, “Kejriwal should tell if his government will deny treatment to a large number of people from other states, especially from UP and Bihar, who live in Delhi but do not have any identity or address proof.”
