1. Amritsar: The Holy City Featuring in ‘Phillauri’

The 2017 romantic comedy Phillauri was appreciated by audiences for its humor, romance, music, acting, and impressive plot that entertained the audience. The film featuring Anushka Sharma was shot across several destinations in Punjab, including Amritsar.

It captured the mystical charm of Amritsar, a city with a spiritual center with a rich history. The well-known Golden Temple is located in the town and is one of the sacred sites in Sikhism.

Different places in Amritsar served as a beautiful and authentic background for several scenes. It helped the makers give an authentic feel to the audience, covering intricate architecture and a serene ambiance.

Apart from the Golden Temple, the film displayed the city’s bustling local markets, narrow alleyways, and rich cultural heritage. Several films like Manmarziyan, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Veer-Zara, etc, were shot in the city.

2. Himachal Pradesh: The Winter Paradise From ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’

We all felt like going on a trek when we saw Aditi and her best friends going for one in their college. It featured stunning scenic white views of ice, peaks, and trekking. If you want to go on that trip, you must visit the Trek trails in Himachal Pradesh, where the film was shot. They covered a couple of treks, including the Hampta pass.

You can engage in activities like skiing and trekking at a place that is an ideal combination of adventure and serenity. Overall, this place instead captured and reflected the essence of the film. Some other movies sought in the natural wonderland were Jab We Met, Bang Bang, Love Aaj Kal, and more.

3. Varanasi: The Spiritual Heart of ‘Raanjhanaa’

Religious/caste differences or financial status often become a barrier when it comes to love and marriage in our country. This plot has been explored in many famous Bollywood films, one of the most popular of which is Anand L Rai’s directorial “Raanjhanaa.”

There are scenes shot across the local market, the shores of the holy Ganga river, tiny temples, and narrow alleys, making up the city. The ancient traditions and spiritual side make it an ideal destination for filmmakers and tourists.

4. Udaipur: The Regal City of ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’

After a trek in Himachal Pradesh, a destination wedding in Udaipur caught our attention. The city, alternatively known as the  “Venice of the East,” was captured beautifully in the film, reflecting its regal essence in every frame.

In the case of the film, the cast shot around the Lake Palace Hotel, set against the backdrop of the picturesque Lake Pichola.
