India is going through a brutal stage of covid-19 nowadays. Till Friday, 1707 cases and 42 deaths were recorded in Delhi due to covid-19. People are dying out of corona infection serving the infected people and keeping this situation in mind Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announced compensation to the family of such workers.
On Saturday, Delhi CM announced a compensation of rupees 1 crore to the families of police officers and other officials who die due to covid-19 while extending services to the infected people and co-operating with the government. This is an extended part of the scheme which has been announced for the help of the families of medical workers like doctors, nurses, lab technicians and sanitation workers. But now this scheme is extended to help the families of all the government officials who provide their services to covid-19 patients and loose their own life. “Earlier, we had decided that this scheme will be for the families of any doctor, nurse, sanitation worker of any hospital, and lab technician. Today [Saturday], we decided that the Delhi government will give a compensation of Rs 1 crore to the families of police personnel, civil defence volunteers, teachers, principals, or any one of them who contracts Coronavirus and dies due to it,” Kejriwal said in an online conference.
The CM has advised people to practice social distancing seriously. “In Jahangirpuri, within a containment zone, 26 people related to one family have found to be positive. This means that they have not followed the orders of social distancing and visited each other’s houses. My appeal to all -you should not be in this illusion that you will not be affected by the disease. Everybody has the same kind of vulnerability towards the Coronavirus infection,” said the CM. There are around 60 sanitisation machines in Delhi right now for the sanitisation of the city and the CM said “sanitisation drive is on and we will cover the entire city. If you want that sanitisation of your area is needed then you can approach the government and we will take care of it immediately.” He added, The administration is taking different measures to cope with this crisis like providing rations to as many people as possible and those also who do not have ration cards via online registration.
