Indian famous wrestler and BJP leader Babita Phogat has defended her controversial remarks on social media against the Islamic section Tablighi Jamaat. The controversy began when she first targeted Jamaatis and she started trending on Twitter, where other users were urging to ban her account for spewing hatred.
She posted a video tweet describing the events of last few days. In this tweet, she was heard saying I stand by the tweet and will also do so in the future as i wrote about those people who spread coronavirus”.
Earlier she tweeted, “Coronavirus is India’s second biggest problem these uncivilised Jamati are still being the first”. The 30- year-old wrestler turned politician Babita Phogat on friday claimed that she was getting threats after she had posted a series of tweets on the Islamic section.
She further said in her tweet, Over the past few days, I posted a few tweets on “Tablighi Jamaat” after that I started to get threatening messages on my social media handles. I started getting threatening phone calls. I want to tell all these people I am not Zaira Wasim. I would not get threatened and saying that she will not get scared like the actress. I have always fought for my country. I will continue to do so and speak for my nation,” she said in a video posted on her Twitter account.
Her remarks came a day after social media users slammed Babita Phogat and asked twitter to suspend her account for posting controversial comment on the micro-blogging site.  #suspend Babita Phogat also became a top trend on twitter in India. She used a hashtag, which ended up offending many people on the platform.
