1. Home Alone

During the holidays, Home Alone appears to be on repeat, yet it’s one of those films that you’ll never tire of. It improves with age!

When you’re a kid, the idea of yourself being in Kevin’s predicament is both interesting and terrifying. When you see the movie as an adult, however, you’ll notice how messed up everything is.

Despite exposing your eyes to the reality of it all, Macaulay Culkin’s brilliant attacks on Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern make you laugh out loud.

2. Rang De Basanti

We all know that Rang De Basanti is one of the top Bollywood movies available on Netflix and in general. Consider this a public service announcement for those who haven’t seen it yet.

We call them fortunate because they are in for a spectacular cinematic experience, a story that tugs at the emotions in all the right places.

Rang De Basanti is about freedom, priorities, courage, and relationships, among other things. This is one of those Netflix Bollywood movies that define the term “food for thought.”

3. Jurassic Park

This film was a revolutionary cinematic feat that has stood the test of time: those CGI dinosaurs still appear incredibly lifelike.

Although the slightly scary film isn’t for small children (it has a PG13 classification and a handful of nasty scenes of dinos chomping on humans), this 1993 Steven Spielberg-directed film gives a rare sense of adventure for dino-loving older children.

They’ll also connect with the movie’s two young leads (Joseph Mazzello and Ariana Richards), who have a memorable and horrifying experience with velociraptors in the kitchen.

4. The Lion King

The epic, sweeping saga of Simba, a young lion who must take back his royal throne from his murderous uncle, appeals to adults as well as kids.

The gorgeously animated African landscape and wildlife, Shakespearean storyline, and memorable songs including “The Circle of Life” and “Hakuna Matata” make this one a can’t-miss for all ages. Then, watch the 2019 photorealistic remake.

5. Dil Chahta Hai

This film has everything. It’s a romantic comedy, to be sure. It’s a dramatic situation. It’s a moving coming-of-age story.

The film Dil Chahta Hai, which received the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi, follows three college buddies as they attempt to navigate life and love after graduation.

6. Lagaan

Don’t be turned off by the fact that “Lagaan” means “Agricultural Tax.” A film about a town incensed by an extraordinary tax rise could only be this absorbing and receive an Oscar nomination if it was made by Bollywood’s genius.

It doesn’t hurt that the villagers wind up playing cricket against the British army officers in exchange for the privilege to refuse to pay.

7. Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

What do you get when you combine the talents of some of Bollywood’s most well-known actors (Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Kajol, and Kareena Kapoor) in a film about a well-off, prominent Delhi family striving to protect its legacy? That’s what it’s called: Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

The family drama is a devastating story about the relationships that bind us but also have the potential to break us. It’s also really, really good.

8. Kai Po Che

Kai Po Che is a must-mention when it comes to the finest Bollywood movies on Netflix since it has very little dithering or unnecessary drama and a lot of meaning, genuineness, and superb cast performances.

This film features some of the most incredible actors we’ve seen in recent years, and we strongly recommend that you see it for that reason alone. We miss you, Sushant!

9. Swades

Leaving aside my unwavering devotion to Shahrukh Khan, Swades is objectively one of the best Bollywood films available on Netflix right now, and watching it may inspire an unexpected surge of love and thankfulness for your homeland.

Swades tackles some of the most important issues confronting our country, from casteism’s talons to education’s astonishing inaccessibility. And it does so with a great deal of grace and soul.

10. Paan Singh Tomar

Irrfan Khan received critical accolades and a National Award for his gritty, honest performance in this biographical drama from all over the world.

And once you see him in the character of Indian Army man turned dacoit Paan Singh Tomar, you’ll concur heartily with all the praise.

This film features outstanding performances from not only the lead actor but the entire cast and is bolstered by a sharp storyline and subtle, funny humor.
