Children as Fetish: Shady Metropolis, search for child porn hiked during COVID-19 lockdown.

Metropolitan cities like Chennai, Delhi which has been red-flagged under COVID-19 catastrophe sketches another grim picture of child sexual abuse. Where 5 million searches of child sexual material under the tag child porn’, sexy child ‘and ‘teen sex videos per month in 100 cities reported by the Indian Child Protection Fund.

Also, ICPF reported data that monitors pre-coronavirus jammed websites with 26,2020 searches where children show “choking”, “bleeding” and”tortured”.In the past 11 days of lockdown, Childline India Helpline reports 92,000 SOS calls of sexual assault on children. To this Spokesperson from ICPF stated,” This is a blatant violation of the directions of the Supreme Court and a violation of national policy.

Pornography websites are playing hide-and-Seek with Indian law and judiciary by simply changing URLs. Data from Pornhub, the world’s largest pornography website in the world, also reveals that traffic from India has increased by 95 per cent between March 24 and March 26, 2020, as compared to their average traffic, pre-coronavirus.

The government of India must urgently crackdown on child pornography and initiate a global dialogue for an international convention against child sexual abuse material. Consequently,  Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu issued a strict law against child pornography in the Rajya Sabha committee that service providers like Jio and Airtel inclusive of social networking sites like Facebook Twitter and Instagram to stop the internet services which provide child abuse content.
