Extending “Seva” i.e. service, ranging from food and shelter to financial aids even in the most acute of circumstances, has been the prime feature of Sikh community that complements their benevolence and altruist vision of the society. In a bid towards ensuring low-cost and feasible healthcare to one and all, Delhi’s Gurudwara Bangla Sahib will render country’s “cheapest” medical treatment costing an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) at a bare minimum of Rs 50.

Diagnostic machines including four machines for dialysis and one each for MRI, X-Ray and ultrasound, collectively worth Rs 6 crore were donated to Guru Harkrishan Hospital. The dialysis centre is expected to start operating from this week whereas the MRI scan facility will be provided from December onwards.

Substantially, an individual has to layout Rs 2,500 for an MRI on an average. Here, at the hospital premises of Bangla Sahib, MRI scan will be available at just Rs 50 for the underprivileged whereas others will benefit from this service at Rs 800. Besides, people from lower-income groups will be able to get an ultrasound and an X-Ray done at the cost of Rs 150 only. These will indeed be the country’s most pocket-friendly diagnostic services ever made available.
