On 26 Aug 2020 West Bengal chief minister declared the dates for the partial lockdown. Bengal had observed complete lockdown on August 5, 8, 20 and 21.
The state further will exercise lockdown from
- 27th August, Thursday
- 31st August, Wednesday
- 7th September, Monday
- 11th September, Friday
- 12th September, Saturday
Only the essential services are allowed to function on lockdown, as per the state government mentioned. All the other shops will be closed for two days a week across the state. All the government and private offices, commercial organizations will also be shut. The educational institutions including schools, colleges and universities will remain closed till September 20, Banerjee announced. Earlier West Bengal government banned the domestic flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Chennai and Ahmedabad to Kolkata till the end of August. But from September 1, flight services to Kolkata from those cities will resume and can operate on three days of the week, Metro Railway services to be resumed from September by observing social distancing and other precautionary norms.
The state has confirmed more than 1.44 lakh coronavirus cases till date. The active number of COVID 19 patients rose to 27,349. The total number of recovered coronavirus patients stood at 1.14 lakh. The deadly novel virus claimed 2,909 lives in the state. The state has also seen the deadly natural calamity Amphan this year in May. which has done damage to the state of around Rs.1 lakh crore.
