Lucknow Citizen thrashes a ‘rashly and negligently’ driving cab; police files complaint

Instead of walking away hurt and frustrated, a woman showed her rage on the cab driver that nearly hit her while she was crossing the road. Many people and news articles have made it an ego issue between a man and a woman.

In a viral video that has been making waves on social media, a Lucknow woman is seen assaulting two men in the middle of a road.

The incident has provoked an outcry against the woman with people blaming the assaulter for the alleged act without an understanding of what transpired on the scene.

The video is taken from a traffic camera wherein we can see a woman crossing the road on the marked zebra crossing path while the traffic light is already red.

We also see a white car racing towards the crossing where the woman comes close to getting hit. It is purported that the vehicle was most probably trying to jump the light before the traffic halts.

The video shows the white cab stopping in the nick of time, almost hitting the woman who then approaches the car in a rage. The woman opens the door of the vehicle and has some heated conversation with the driver.

After she slams the door she goes on to exact some revenge on the vehicle itself, provoking one of the passengers to come out of the vehicle.

It is here that the woman allegedly hit the man. Obviously, the cab driver must not have apologized for his actions.

Lucknow Woman Thrashing Car Driver Puts Spotlight On Violence Against Men
The Logical Indians

The police called the woman and three passengers for questioning and have filed a complaint of assault on the woman saying that she should have complained rather than taking matters into her own hand.

Careless drivers should be taught a lesson, what if that girl had lost her leg? What would she get out of police complaints? Reverting back to such carelessness should be taken as a precautionary step.

The case has been filed under IPC sections 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of Rs 50) by the police, says The Indian Express.

The woman, whose own complaint that the driver was driving `rashly and negligently’ has been overlooked because of the fact that her rage was visible on the camera and the actual violators are seen as victims.

It is visible in the video that the cab was speeding without any sign of restraint with an intent to outrun the red light. The woman who was in her right to cross the road was nearly injured.

Such skirmishes often go unheard and unseen on the road, and the police take no notice of such cases. While public shaming for the same life-threatening driving is seen as law-breaking.

In incidents like these, where a woman is involved, fingers are raised at the woman’s morality. In a show of opportunistic allegation, the situation becomes politically charged with feminism often being blamed as an ideology close to fascism.

Whether it be the case of the woman slapping  Zomato delivery person or serial murders of Kerala’s Jolly Joseph, women are seen singularly and judged on the basis of their sex.

While similar acts committed by men are seen as generally representative of their personal freedom and choice and deemed as a case for human consideration. In the same cases where women are involved, complex and even unrelated concepts like feminism are used without understanding.
