Narayan Rane, the Union Minister for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises commenced the Jan Ashirwad Yatra. The start point of the yatra was announced as Mumbai. Narayan Rane was welcomed at the Mumbai airport by a grand ceremony by the opposition members of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the former chief minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis.
He paid tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and addressed the audience from the makeshift podium near the airport. In his speech, he targeted Shiv Sena and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
He stated that Uddhav Thackeray is playing a vital role in leading the state of Maharashtra towards demolition. He introduced the Jan Ashirwad Yatra stating that they will provide good governance to people.
Additionally, he said that he was elected as the in-charge of the Union Cabinet Minister just one-and-a-half months ago.
He spoke about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that working with him is a new experience altogether.
He said that his expertise and portfolio can help the state of Maharashtra. He promised that once the Bharatiya Janata Party comes into power in Maharashtra, they will ensure maximum employment generation to the youth through the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME).
After the speech, Mr. Rane moved to the Bal Thackeray Memorial located at Shivaji Park. The move to visit the Bal Thackeray Memorial during the Jan Ashirwad Yatra caused a series of backlash against Narayan Rane.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) was issued directives to remove all the welcoming banners for Narayan Rane.
Several complaints have been filed at Kherwadi, Mahim, Vile Parle, Shivaji Park, Dadar, Govandi, and Dadar police stations against the rally for flouting the Covid-19 protocols.
Shiv Sena member Vinayak Raut had objected to Rane visiting Balasaheb Thackeray’s memorial at Shivaji Park. However, the mayor of Mumbai, Kishori Pednekar stated that Mr. Rane can pay respect to the supremo of Shiv Sena.
Mr.Rane stated that the memorial is built by the BMC and for the citizens of the country. Hence, the memorial isn’t private property.
Hours after Nara yan Rane visited the memorial of Shiv Sena supremo, Appa Patil, a local Shiv Sena MP visited the area and washed it with cow urine and performed “Abhishek.”
Appa Patil stated that Narayan Rane stood here and paid tribute to Thackeray Sir, but at the same time, he criticized the party ideology. Hence, the place is impure. Patil conducted the ritual of purifying the place.
Kishori Pednekar stated that Bharatiya Janata Party member Atul Bhatkalkar had stated that the former chief minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, and Narendra Modi will be the face of the party during the upcoming elections of 2022.
However, Rane later stated that he is leading the party for the 2022 elections. Shiv Sena members alleged that there are many loopholes in the claims made by Narayan Rane.
Mr. Rane started the Jan Ashirwad Yatra in Mumbai, the rally will be three weeks long. Several ministers including Kapil Patil, Bhagwat Karad, and Bharti Pawar also started the Yatra in their respective constituencies.
During the rally, Mr. Rane also levied accusations of corruption against Shiv Sena and stated that he affirmed that the Bharatiya Janata Party will win 120 seats in the upcoming elections of 2022.
Narayan Rame was suspended from Shiv Sena in 2005. Narayan Rane had quit Shiv Sena and joined Congress. In 2019, he switched to the Bharatiya Janata Party.
