There are many other Nations and Governments where Indians play a pivotal role. Here is a list of some of the most prominent Indian-origin figures who hold esteemed positions in foreign lands.


Although, we take pride in who we are but if there is anything that makes us proud of our identity as an Indian is, ‘we are everywhere.’ When the world relied upon roman numbers for mathematics, we gave them ‘0’ to simplify the complexities of it.

Indians don’t just hold positions elsewhere but they hold it at the top. Joe Biden alone has over 20 Indian-Americans in his review team. Not just that, there are many other nations and governments where Indians play a very pivotal role.

1.  Vivek Murthy

He is the Co-chair for Biden’s COVID-19 Task Force. He has served as the 19th Surgeon General of the United States. He is also the founder of the nonprofit organization ‘Doctors for America’ in 2008.


2. Priti Patel

She is serving as the Home Secretary of Britain since 2019. She has also served as Secretary of State for International Development from 2016-17. She considers herself to be a Thatcherite and is ideologically on the right-wing of the Conservative Party.


3. António Costa

The name might not suggest the same but he is of Indian descent, serves as Prime Minister of Portugal.



4. Rishi Sunak

He is a  British politician and is a Chancellor of the Exchequer of Great Britain since February 2020. He is a member of the Conservative Party and has served as the Chief Secretary of the Treasury previously.


5. Bardish Chagger

She is a Member of Parliament for the riding of Waterloo. She is serving as Minister of Diversity and Inclusion and Youth Waterloo, Canada since Nov. 20, 2019.


6. Leo Varadkar

He is serving as the Deputy PM of Ireland. He has previously served as Taoiseach and Minister of Defence from 2017- 2020.



7. Harjit Sajjan

He is the Minister of National Defence, Vancouver South, Canada. Before he entered politics, he worked as a detective in the Vancouver Police Department.

9. Arun Majumdar

11.  Puneet Talwar

He is an American diplomat who is in the Department of State Agency Review Team, US. He formerly served as the Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs from 2014-15.
