Rishikesh: The Hub Of Adventure Sports In India

Situated in the foothills of the Himalayas, along the convergence of Ganga and Chandrabhaga River, Rishikesh is a small town, under the district of Dehradun, which has now become the adventure sports hub of India.

Rishikesh became prominent worldwide particularly in the 1960s when the English rock band, The Beatles, visited the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi here. Today the place is popularly known as the Beatles Ashram which attracts tourists from around the world.

Rishikesh is also known as the ‘Yoga Capital of The World’ and the international yoga festival is held here in the first week of March every year which sees yoga lovers from every part of the world.

Apart from being one of the holiest places in Hinduism, Rishikesh is also known for its adventure activities. The place has seen a spike in tourist footfall in recent years due to an increase in adventure sports here.

It includes river rafting, zip-lining, flying fox, camping, cliff jumping, and whatnot. In fact, Rishikesh is the only place in North India where you can find bungee jumping. 

Rishikesh is known as the best place for river rafting in India. Known as White Water Rafting here, this sport will test you against the treacherous waves of the river.

Moreover, it is done in the mother of all rivers in India, the Ganga. This adventure sport can be tried out at various destinations in Rishikesh and is quite affordable as well.
