When a movie has a layered storyline, it offers the audience an opportunity to look at things differently. Motherhood has been a subject in which the Indian Cinema has been treading slowly and making films while gauging the audience’s reaction to the story showcased.

Directed by Jude Anthany Joseph and starring Sunny Wayne and Anna Ben in the leading role, Sara’s can separate itself from the conventional motherhood portrayal and tries to deliver various messages in the form of a light-hearted movie.

The romantic comedy exempts itself from the strings of conventional motherhood roles and reveals the story of a young aspiring filmmaker who decides not to have a child. A cheerful and fun-loving Sara, passionate about her dreams and career, finds Jeevan, who seconds her opinion about having a child.

They both fall in love and decide to marry. However, as luck would have it– Sara soon becomes pregnant. The ‘child-free’ notion that served as a factor in forming their relationship soon became an obstacle in their life.

Now Sara is faced with the difficult choice of not having a child or jeopardizing her career. The film has displayed motherhood, not as a sign of a burden on a woman, but allows the viewers to ponder on the sacrifices made by a woman when she becomes a mother.

It shows the reality where a man is detached from the household duties of a child as he is considered the breadwinner of the family while the woman has to step back from her aspirations to look after the child.

The story also embeds the problems young couples face when their elders put pressure on them to become parents. Even though Sara and Jeevan were firm in their decision not to have a child, the persistent stress from their families nevertheless impacts their lives.

The film does not hesitate to portray things as they are. Even in the process of becoming a filmmaker, Sara confronts several uncomfortable questions and experiences in her path.

Numerous side stories follow the film, for instance, an actress who wishes to join the industry again but patiently waits to achieve the permission of her spouse and another male gynecologist who has a better sense of knowledge about motherhood than the majority the men.

An opinion that was widely accepted not only in the community but also in mainstream cinema has been challenged by the director Jude Anthany Joseph and Akshay Hareesh, who wrote the script.

The script has been concentrated on the movie’s primary theme and never once did it detract from its theme.

Sara’s is a fantastic choice if you are looking for a light-hearted watch with both a story and theme. The thought-provoking movie did not fully dive into a serious atmosphere, and it is totally worth giving a watch.

Anna Ben, who seizes the role of Sara, has executed her performance incredibly well. It is bound to keep the audience intrigued with its remarkable cast, impressive storyline, and empowering theme.
