Divorce should be a rightful alternative!

It’s difficult to understand why a woman should drag a relationship even if it makes her unhappy. Why is it wrong to break a relationship when it becomes a cause for gloom? Why is a woman only responsible for taking a relationship ahead by making all sorts of efforts? Why does society want to desperately know and judge a woman’s relationship status?

There are ample reasons to end a relationship. It can be unhappiness, constant conflict, unpreparedness for a long-term commitment, and a lot more.

There can be separate plans or any unsolvable issues. Why is it necessary to drag a relationship just for the sake of society? In case, a relationship does not work it is the right option to end it.

The fact remains that after claiming to be developed the society still disregards divorces. What is the reason for disapproving of a divorce? Even today, families do not let their daughter or daughter-in-law get a divorce even after her husband abuses her or if he is an alcoholic.

They urge her to continue and adjust to it because it is a women’s responsibility to adjust and make a relationship work. For ages, women have been forgoing their self-respect and sacrificing their interests for the sake of their families. If she thinks about herself, she is made to feel guilty or termed as a rebel.

Divorce and ending up a relationship has never been an option for women in India. It is a battle for taking up this decision that some women have won while others still struggle to make the decision.

When a woman breaks away from a relationship and marries another person she is looked upon with a frown and there is an apprehension towards her for life.

The Movies and TV shows glorifying a woman adjusting to an abusive husband has been a huge influence!

The local movies and TV shows depict that a great woman is the one who makes her relationship work despite her husband being an alcoholic or abusive. He can do whatever he wants and even mistreat his wife in any way.

But, a woman should make her relationship work single-handedly and fight for it because this is her duty. In the daily soaps, it’s rare for a woman to have her own life because she is responsible for all misdeeds.

It is common to drag and remove a wife or woman out of the house and move on for a man. But the same is not always implied to a woman.

AConcious Rethink

On the contrary, the concept is different in global movies and TV serials. It is OK to date people and break up if it does not work. There is an option to remain cordial in the future.

But, in an Indian TV or film if a woman says to a man and says they shall be cordial or friends after a break up then it’s wrong. The Man most commonly says that he didn’t think of her in this way. A hero is glorified when he does not move on after a breakup and a woman is targeted if she is the first one to move on.

Mostly in India, the girls are disregarded for being in a relationship. Her parents ban her outings and she is grounded after her relationship is disclosed and not allowed to continue her studies.

A marriage would be arranged to a random person to make sure that she does not bring bad fame to the family. There is a whole process of character assassination even if she has a male friend. While a boy is allowed the same and in some cases, a girl is blamed for misleading a boy.

It is important to understand that it’s best to end a relationship that is the cause of gloom. There is a need to normalize divorces because there is no fun in dragging an unhappy relationship.
