The second phase of the Covid 19 vaccination drive begins on March 1 in India

In phase-2 of the vaccination drive against Covid 19, the vaccine will be administered for free at government hospitals.

10 crore people are expected to receive the Covid-19 vaccination shots. So far 1.5  crore people have received the Coronavirus Vaccines.

This vaccination campaign is all set to inoculate anyone above 60 years of age and even those above 45 with co-morbidities.


In phase-2 of the vaccination drive against Covid 19 infection, the vaccine will be administered for free at government hospitals. 

Rs250 per dose of Covid 19 vaccine will be charged in private hospitals, said the Union Health Ministry.


Although phase inoculation drives all set to begin across the country, 16,000 new cases of Covid-19 infections were reported the previous fourth consecutive days.


86% of fresh cases are emerging from these six states – Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Gujrat.

Maharashtra reported the highest infections at 8623 per day. It is followed by Kerala with 3792 and Punjab with 593 new cases.


While Kerala reported the maximum number of recoveries with 4650 new recovered cases in a single day.

In Maharashtra, 3648 people were recovered in the past 24 hours. And 491 recovered in Tamil Nadu.



For the second phase of the Vaccination drive, around 10,000 private hospitals joined under  Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB- PM-JAY), more than 600 hospitals under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) will be utilized. 

And other private hospitals under State Governments Health Insurance Scheme will become COVID 19 Vaccination Centres, people will be able to register via a Cowin 2.0 or Arogya Setu app, or walk-in at any of the registered vaccination sites.
