Gangster Vikas Dubey was killed in an alleged encounter on Friday after a police vehicle carrying him from Ujjain to Kanpur overturned and he tried to escape from the spot in Bhauti area, according to the senior police official.

The UP Police said the car in which he was being brought back met with an accident around 6:30 AM in Bhauti, just 30 minutes short of Kanpur city. Dubey snatched a pistol from STF men who were injured in the accident and tried to flee, the police said.
The police [personnel] tried to make him surrender, during which he fired at the policemen. Then, in an exchanged artillery firing, he was shot in the chest by police.
He was taken to a hospital in Kanpur where he was declared dead by the doctors.
A Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) team along with Vikas Dubey was heading to Kanpur on Friday morning after the gangster was handed over to it by their Madhya Pradesh counterparts.
