WhatsApp Update Incoming! Multi-Device Support, ShareChat, and Other New Features

WhatsApp announced through blog posts, last week about the new features on the upcoming updated version. Features are currently under alpha testing and not available for beta users.

Upcoming features :

Multi Login support

The upcoming development will enable users to work from 4 different devices simultaneously. Currently, users can log in from a maximum of two devices, one through the mobile app itself and the other via WhatsApp Web functionality.

Search by date

 This new feature will allow users to quickly search a message by picking a specific date. WhatsApp already supports an in-chat search feature, which allows users to search using keywords.

New bubble color

WhatsApp is currently developing a new bubble color for outgoing messages when dark mode is enabled. “The upcoming bubble color is expected to be a lighter shade of the current one” as per the blog post.

ShareChat integration

WhatsApp is currently developing a dedicated player for ShareChat videos. This will enable users to watch ShareChat videos in the app itself. Currently, this functionality is available for Youtube and Instagram videos. ShareChat is a social networking service, which allows users to share videos, chats, pictures, and gif.

Clear except starred

WhatsApp is currently testing the “clear except starred” feature. As the name suggests It will allow users to clear certain types of messages keeping the specific ones. With this new feature, users can clear all messages except the starred ones.

Storage Usage

WhatsApp is currently testing some default filters to quickly find specific messages like forwarded files, Large files, etc. new tools will allow users to sort files based on size, and from newest to oldest.WhatsApp currently shows the storage size of photos, videos, and documents shared on individual chats.

Search Image on web

For frequently forwarded messages, new functionality will be enabled to search the forwarded image on the web.WhatsApp will replace the “forward” button with “search on the web”. This will allow users to directly upload the respective image to google.

“Contacts Shortcut” feature is currently available for WhatsApp beta for iOS version 2.20.70.18 and 2.20.70.19 on iOS 13. this feature allows users to access their contacts when they share a link from another app. The profile picture gets updated in the Share Sheet as well.
