Strong will to attain education can overshadow all the odds no matter how big they are. This was proven by a Keralite family where the parents completed class 12th along with their son.
Muhammed Musthafa along with his wife Nusaiba who lives in Malappuram passed class 12 equivalency exams with flying colors just a few months after their son Shammas scored remarkable marks in his class 12th exam. The whole family completed their higher secondary education till mid-July.
43-year-old Musthafa went to the Gulf to work at a Veterinary clinic, after completing his class 10th studies and soon after got married to Nusaiba and moved back to Gulf due to which his higher secondary education remained incomplete.
When he returned to Kerela five years ago he inquired about giving class 12th exams as he regretted leaving his education incomplete. During this period Musthafa came to know about the Kerela Literacy Mission poster on a notice board at the Mangala Panchayat Office and soon after, he enrolled for the Sunday classes along with his wife Nusaiba.
“We were initially trying to keep it within the family, the story about my wife and I writing the exam. Since we are doing it so late, we were slightly embarrassed about it,” Musthafa said. “But we understood there was no reason to be embarrassed when all the calls that came were congratulatory. We even managed to inspire some people who realized that it is never too late to study more,” he added.
Now, the couple has completed their higher secondary education along with their son Shammas. Nusaiba has scored above 80 percent while Musthafa passed with first division as he juggled between his business and studies.
For further education, the couple wishes to pursue Bachelor’s in Commerce while their son Shammas has already applied for Chartered Accountancy. Their passion for studies is truly an inspiration and proves that ‘It’s never too late’ for education.
