The Mumbai Police Commissioner announced to have uncovered a scam involving private TV channels exploiting their TRPs. The police commissioner said Republic TV and two other local Mumbai channels were found guilty of manipulating crucial data.

Goswami, in reaction to the allegations, claimed that India Today and not Republic TV were the names in the FIR filed in the case. India Today TV replied to this by an interview conducted with a senior Mumbai Police officer, who said that there is no connection found between the alleged scam and India Today TV during investigations.

On Thursday, Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh said police are investigating a scam of getting TRP’s fixed by manipulating the equipment used by India’s Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), which has the license to assess India’s television audience and will share more information about the same once the investigation will bring out more evidence and results.
