To defeat COVID-19, the lockdown has been extended till May 3, 2020, in India. Except for the essential services, nothing is functional. Borders have been sealed and all domestic and international flights are suspended until further notice.
On Saturday, Air India has announced that, from May 4 and June 1, all domestic and international flights booking respectively, shall be open.
“In the light of the ongoing global health concerns, we have currently stopped accepting bookings of all domestic flights for travel till May 3, 2020, and all international flights for travel till May 31, 2020”, Air India mentioned on their website.
“From May 4, 2020, and July 1, 2020, all routes will be open for domestic and international flights”, Air India said.
An hour later, the Indian government and aviation industry said that there is no plan regarding the opening of all domestic and international flights.
Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Civil Aviation tweeted, “The Ministry of Civil Aviation clarifies that so far no decision has been taken to open domestic or international operations. Airlines are advised to open their bookings only after a decision in this regard has been taken by the Government”.
As on March 25, 2020, all passenger flights have been suspended except the cargo planes that are helping in supplying necessary kits across India.
