In the latest development, it has been seen that the US has allowed Fully vaccinated people to forgo their masks. The same kind of announcement was made a few weeks back by Israel. But how the same can be ensured that fully vaccinated people are free from the risk of coronavirus.
A big study of health care workers across the country helped the US center for disease control and Prevention with a fresh batch of data which says fully vaccinated people can go without masks.
The study revealed that the efficacy of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines in real life is 94%. It means vaccines provide 94% protection for the front-line workers immunized at the beginning of the vaccine rollout. The CDC-led team reported that the single dose of vaccine provides 82% protection.
This was the study that pushed CDC to decide to weaken its advice on when and who should wear a mask, said CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky.
“COVID-19 vaccines are effective at preventing COVID-19 disease, especially severe illness and death,” CDC said. It also claimed that the covid-19 vaccine reduces the risk of virus transmission and people spreading covid 19.
After a week of a claim that the virus may be transferred even from fully vaccinated people in their nose, mouths, and throat or breathe, the CDC says the evidence shows this is unlikely to transmission.
At least 3 of the major studies prove that fully vaccinated people are not likely to test positive for the novel coronavirus, which indicates that they are not carrying any virus in their body.
As per the researcher, those people who have got both doses of either Moderna or BioNtech/Pfizer were 90% less likely to test positive for the corona, and the one who has taken a single dose of vaccine had 80% protection from the virus.
“This assessment, conducted in a different study network with a larger sample size from across a broader geographic area than in the clinical trials, independently confirms U.S. vaccine effectiveness findings among health care workers that were first reported March 29,” the CDC said in a statement.
As per the data of CDC, at least 47% of the total American has been vaccinated or has received at least one dose of covid-19 vaccine and about 36% of the total population has taken both doses of vaccine.
The logic says more the people are vaccinated, the less is the risk of transmission. With increasing in the no. of people getting vaccinated the rate of virus transmission is reducing to a significant level.
Many critics claimed that the CDC made no regulation or provision related to the people who are not vaccinated and who will not wearing a mask.
And President Joe Biden confirmed that Americans will be on the honor system for making sure they are vaccinated before discarding face masks. “We’re not going to go out and arrest people,” Biden said in remarks Thursday.
A man from Washington said to Reuters that he would still ask his customers to wear a mask for indoor since it is unknown who is or isn’t vaccinated.
