Bengali weddings are full of ceremonies, festivals, and other events. India is known for many things, but our weddings and films are two of the most important aspects of our culture. When the two are combined, the result is even more stunning. The big Indian wedding, combined with cinematic elements, creates something so beautiful and dramatic that it may persuade you to marry.
As the wedding season approaches, we thought we’d compile a list of films that accurately depict Bengali weddings, which are a visual treat. Are you prepared to start binge-watching?
1. Golondaaj
Your heart skipped a beat the first time you glanced into her eyes, and your imagination declared her to be your “shopnocharini” – dream girl. It’s supposed to be the most important time for the bride and groom to see each other. Bengali weddings are distinctive because of the rituals and the splendour of the occasion.
3. Vicky Donor
Wedding ceremonies serve as a unifying force that keeps all Bengali communities together, no matter how conventional or conservative they are. 8. Barfi
A bittersweet love story set in Kolkata between Barfi and Jhilmil. With its tramlines, yellow cabs, busy highways, and the stunning Victoria Memorial as a backdrop, the city was a riot of colour.
