Last Year in India Toyota rebadged Suzuki premium hatchback Maruti Suzuki Baleno as Toyota Glanza and this time Suzuki borrowed Rav-4 SUV from Toyota as Suzuki ACross powered by the Plug-in Hybrid system and E-four Electronic 4×4 and will sit above the Vitara in International market. However, going by its design elements, The ACross styling is expected to be closer to the upcoming Toyota Corolla Cross SUV that will go on sale in ASEAN markets soon. This will be the first model by Toyota Motor Corporation under the Collaborative business agreement between Toyota and Suzuki.
The ACross is quite similar in dimensions to the Toyota RAV4. It is 4,635mm long, 1,855mm wide, 1,690mm high, and has a 2,690mm-long wheelbase. This makes the ACross slightly bigger than a Tata Harrier, for instance. The model features a 5-seat cabin layout and 490 litres of boot space. The Across interior close to the one in RAV4 with some minor changes. Across offers, you a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is equipped with Apple car play and Android Auto, among other features.
This SUV will churn out 173 horses and 2.5-litre petrol four-cylinder mated to a pair of electric motors one with 182hp/270 Nm on the Front axle and another with 54hp/121 Nm at the rear and give out massive 180 kmph speed. It also consists of four driving modes features: Auto EV/HV and HV mode, which allows the petrol motor to provide occasional power boosts, and battery charger mode, which uses a petrol motor exclusively. The 18.1 KWh battery which is mounted under the floor, allows it to travel 73.6 km on electric power alone and expected to be reach speeds of up to 135 kph in this mode. The Across is loaded with driving assist functions such as pre-collision, Lane Tracing Assist, and Dynamic Radar cruise control which uses millimetre-wave radar and monocular camera.
The Across will be on the roads of Europe in this Autumn and if we talk about India there is no information of Across to launch India but as we see Suzuki-Toyota alliance is very much present in India, The Maruti Brezza will be Tweaked and sold as the Toyota Urban Cruiser later in our Market.
