The city always has always been a much appreciable sedan of our country. The City story began in 1998 and in between, we had four versions of it, and now fifth-gen also set to rule the Indian roads. Honda launched its diesel variant in 4th the generation which turned out to be the most loved city in India. This approach has been carried forward in this 2020 HondaCity.
Under the hood
The new City comes with two engine options. The first being the 1.5-litre i-Dtech diesel produces 100 hp of power and 200nm torque and the second one is all-new DOHC 1.5-litre i-Vtech petrol engine produces 121 hp of power. you will get the 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic (with paddle shifters) for petrol but for diesel, you only get a 6-speed manual.
This time, it will not be easy for the City because there are so many rivals like Verna which are offering plenty of new features in which city is struggling with, like-ventilated seats and wireless charging or the new Skoda Rapid will be a strong player in front of the City.
Outside design
The City comes with an all-new design inspired by its elder sister Honda Civic, The 9 LED the array looks striking along with the Honda signature front chrome bar which now thicker with the top strip stretching across the width of the nose makes the City class apart.
This city has also grown in terms of size, and the lane watch camera is all new technology makes it very practical along with Alexa voice assistant.
The wheel the base remains the same as earlier but in terms of length, now it is 4,549 in length makes it longest in its segment. The 16-inch alloys are impressive in designs but look quite small in context with its wheel arches.
Dashboard and Interior
The moment you enter the cabin you will find premium and descent looking dashboard along with four ac vents, the plastic is premium and the ac controls are skillfully placed with tickling sound on turning it around. The steering wheel is also new with all the controls like music, calls, and cruise controls.
There is an 8.0-inch touchscreen is not up to the mark even on high brightness setting the screen is difficult to read in direct sunlight. The system of course offers every usual connectivity like apple car play and android auto.
Honda city is known for its comfort and once again the city has done a fantastic job in terms of rear-seat design and space whether it is knee room legroom or the under-thigh support. The wide and deep seat base, positions at the right height, will keep you comfortable on long rides too along with sunroof on offer. although, you will not get ventilated seats like its rival like Verna which is also said to one of the best mid-size sedans.
Summary
Honda has done a great job in terms of design and comfort but the handling isn’t sporty and chassis setup not much impressive, could disappoint keen drivers. But City is known for its space and overall comfort which is still best in class. The practical cabin with hassle-free design looks stunning. And in last it all depends on the pricing. we hope Honda will position its pricing smartly.
