The outrage that has erupted across the nation following the Hathras gangrape case, became international when activists in New York hit the streets to protest against the incident.
On September 29, the victim died in Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital after she was allegedly gang-raped by four men in the district of Hathras. The victim had suffered multiple injuries and fractures. Later on, her dead body was cremated by the police without the approval of the victim’s family. All this led to the subsequent nationwide protests.

The incident also gave rise to the caste-based tensions in the area as many people from the upper caste community stood out in support of the four accused, claiming that they are innocent.

Amid the ongoing nationwide outrage, the protest against this injustice spread across the border. A group of activists took the streets in New York to raise their voices against the heinous crime that took place in Hathras. They conducted the protest under the banner of Ambedkar International Mission (AIM), demanding justice for the 19-year-old girl who was allegedly gang-raped.
