Netflix released the first four episodes of Bridgerton Season 3 on 16th May, and the rest of the episodes are expected to be out in June. And with this season, dearest reader, get ready to immerse yourself in the latest gossip of Lady Whistledown herself. It features the story of Lady Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).
Miss Featherington has been regarded as little more than a wallflower for the past two seasons. While her feelings for Colin were apparent, she had to hide them as she believed her love was unrequited. This season puts her story in the centre and reveals the depth of her character. While some critics have declared that this season is the most charming, others think that Penelope and Colin “have almost zero chemistry”. The story’s message is great and relatable, and the series does a good job of portraying the different sides of India—kind and cunning.
However, it follows a very typical pattern, due to which it might seem cliche. Another problem lies with the flow of the series. The main theme that it tries to portray is that all individuals have problems that they must overcome. However, the way that the different problems of all the characters are presented seems disjointed, which disrupts the flow.
4. The Atypical Family (2024)
This K-drama has been widely loved by its viewers since the day of its release. It is a romance fantasy and features Chun Woo Hee and Jang Ki Yong. The story revolves around the Bok family, who possess supernatural powers but lose them. It explains how they lost their powers due to modern-day problems. It beautifully portrays the struggles caused by mental health issues in a fictitious way.
The family soon crosses paths with a mysterious woman, and everything dramatically changes after. As the name suggests, the series tells the story of an “atypical family”, but each character has a personality that the viewers can resonate with. 5. Bodkin (2024)
This series has 7 episodes that you can binge-watch in one night. A comedy-thriller, Bodkins is produced by the Obamas. The plot revolves around three journalists working on a documentary about three people who disappeared at a pagan festival 25 years ago. It follows two American crime podcasters, Gilbert and Emmy, who are looking for interesting stories to document. In this search, they find themselves in the Irish town of Bodkin. As they search for the truth, a lot of secrets of the town are revealed.
It can get confusing sometimes, with all the red herrings and small twists. But every episode creates more mystery and reveals secrets along the way, leaving the viewer wanting for more. While the characters of the show may not be very likeable, you will certainly find them very interesting. If you enjoy dark humour, you’ll really love Bodkin.
