The wounds of Madhya Pradesh are likely to refresh for Congress, if BJP manages to poach MLAs of Rajasthan. The political war between the ruling Congress and opposition BJP has come into the picture on the congruent lines of Madhya Pradesh. A few months back, former Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia changed sides and joined BJP along with a considerable number of MLAs that led to the fall of Congress Government led by Kamal Nath in Madhya Pradesh.

Developments on the Frontline:

After fearing the fate of Rajasthan as that of Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Gujrat, the ruling government attacked the opposition BJP saying that there can be attempts to destabilize the Rajasthan Government. CM Ashok Gehlot also claims that some MLAs have been given Rs. 10 crore in advance and the opposition party is foreseeing a similar coup like that in Madhya Pradesh in the month of March 2020.

Even the independent MLAs were moved to the Shiv Vilas Resort in Jaipur for the meeting. In a letter written by senior Congress leader Mahesh Joshi to Rajasthan DGP says, “Through extremely reliable sources, it has come to my knowledge that on the lines of Karnataka, Gujrat and Madhya Pradesh, an abominable attempt is being made to destabilize the democratically elected government in the state which is completely devoted towards public welfare by offering huge enticements to our MLAs and independent MLAs supporting us.”

Satish Poonia, Rajasthan BJP President retorted, “Today, Congress party has begun fencing around its MLAs. It was apparent from the Chief Minister’s statements that he was worried as well as doubtful. If the government is completely safe, there is no internal clash and there is no danger of any kind, then how will they keep the MLAs for 10 days? They do not trust their MLAs and that is why things have reached such a stage within the Congress party today.”

The Rajya Sabha elections are likely to be held on June 19. The ruling Congress Government has hailed KC Venugopal and Neeraj Dangi as their candidates from Rajasthan, on the other hand, Rajendra Gehlot and Omkar Singh Lakhawat have been fielded from BJP’s side.
