Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday declared to seal COVID-19 hotspots in 15 districts till April 15.
” To stop the community spread of COVID-19 government has decided that all hotspots in 15 districts of UP will be sealed. Home delivery of important items will be allowed,” said Chief Secretary RK Tiwari.
The restrictions in these areas will be very strict, unlike the lockdown areas. People will not be allowed to step out at all, however, the administration will ensure door to door delivery of all the essential items.
In addition to this, Yogi Adityanath Government said it will now test 1,500 people daily and wearing masks will be made mandatory while stepping out of homes.
This step came as a result of the death toll reaching four while the coronavirus cases have reached to 361.
“Only the hotspots will be sealed and not the entire district,” said Additional Chief Secretary, Awanish Awasthi. Awasthi further asked people to not panic in this situation.
“No media person will be allowed in these areas, only medical vehicles will be allowed and if required drones will be used,” Awasthi added.
The districts where the hotspots are observed are – Lucknow, Meerut, Agra, Gautam Budh Nagar, Saharanpur, Sitapur, Shamli, Kanpur, Marajganj, Varanasi, Firozabad, Basti, Bulandshahar and Bareilly.
“Enhanced sanitation drives, door to door delivery and setting up of barricades will be done in these areas to restrict the movement of people,” DGP said. He also added that the passes that were issued to people during the lockdown will also be suspended.
