This somewhat positive news was announced as part of the routine daily briefing to notify the country about the situation of the pandemic.

Agarwal, Health Ministry’s joint secretary informed that 4.4 deaths per lakh population have been reported for the world and drew a comparison that Spain has 504 cases per lakh population, Belgium 499 per lakh, America has 486 cases per lakh, while in the lower end of the spectrum too Mexico, has 52.2 cases per lakh population.” while India has reported about 0.3 deaths per lakh population, which is among the lowest in the world. This has been due to the lockdown, timely identification, and management of the Covid-19 cases, he added further.

The country, meanwhile registered 6,535 new cases as of May 26 taking the total number of confirmed cases to 1,53,723 while more than 64,273 patients have recovered so far.
