Shivraj Singh, a 56-years-old IRS officer from Dwarka, Delhi takes his life on Sunday in a car by drinking an acid-like substance over the fear of ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. He was a 2006’s batch graduate and was currently posted as an Additional Commissioner of Income Tax (CIT) at RK Puram, Delhi.
A suicide note was recovered from inside his car where he reportedly ended his life. It read, “I might spread Covid-19 to my family and do not want them to suffer because of me.”
He was found by some local, lying unconscious in his car who reported immediately to the Dwarka South police station. Later, he was taken to the hospital, nearby where he was declared dead.
Something strange about this incident is that Singh got tested himself a week ago of which the results came negative despite, he feared he might be the reason to his family for this deadly virus sometimes later in the future. As reported by a senior police officer.
The police investigating deeply into the matter told the media that no clue except a suicide note and a case of his prolonged depression initially has come out. He seemed upset for a very long time and feared that his family might get infected in some or the other way.
“The case is under investigation and police will talk to the family members in some time,” the officer said.
“The body will be handed over to the family on Monday by the latest after the post-mortem and other formalities,” he added.
