Even after almost six months of continuous struggle, our world is still grappling with the Coronavirus pandemic, which was set to have arisen from China. A new virus is set to be confirmed by Chinese officials, caused by the tick that has killed seven people so far and infected 60 others. It is said to have human to human transmission.
More than 37 people in East China’s Jiangsu Province contracted the SFTS virus or Huaiyang Shan bunyavirus in the first half of the year. Later, 23 people were found to have been infected in East China’s Anhui province, state-run Global Times quoted media reports.
The symptoms of the virus include fever, coughing, headache, fatigue and muscle ache. Decrease of leukocyte, blood platelet is found in infected patients. Gastrointestinal symptoms, accompanied by neurological abnormalities and coagulopathy are also other symptoms.
The virus was transmitted from Ticks to Humans, and it can be transmitted from Human to Human via blood or mucous, as stated by Sheng Jifang, a doctor from the first affiliated hospital under Zhejiang University.
Ticks are insects which are found on the grass, shrubs and mountainous regions. It is advisable by the doctors to avoid these areas, especially in summer when they breed actively to avoid the chances to get infected.
Patients with mild cases of this disease can mostly heal themselves, but patients with severe cases often suffer from multi-organ dysfunction or even multi-organ failure.
If someone gets infected by it, they should take medical treatment as soon as possible, this lowers the chances of severe complications.
