Vectoring towards 2,027 ceasefire contraventions in Indian positions by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu & Kashmir till 10th June this year. On 16th June 2020, Pakistan has yet again reinitiated unprovoked ceasefire violation (CFV) at the LoC by cannonading mortar shells in J&K’s Naugam Sector – confirmed by news agency PTI.
The Indian Military has firmly counterattacked the CFV. – claimed the Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand.
As per the government data, 2019 has recorded a consequential amount of CFV in the preceding 16 years when the 2003 CFA (Ceasefire Agreement) was infringed for about 3168 times.
On 12th June 2020, around 9:20 a.m., a recent CVF was verified from the Kamalkote sector in the Uri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The officials affirmed that it was directed right at the civilians where a 40-year-old woman, Akhter Begum, of Bhatgran in Uri, lost her life due to the transposition of heavy armament and fire at the LoC.
The Naugam Sector CFV was reported just a day after India had its borders locked with China at the LAC, where the Indian and Chinese troops had a violent face-off at the Galwan Valley, causing a protract in the rift and casualties on both sides. China suffered 43 casualties where as the Indian Military lost 20 Jawaans (soldiers) at the intercept. The face-off allegedly came to pass as an attempt of a unilateral change of territorial status quo.
As per NDTV, Senior security officials viewed the upsurge in violations as performative conduct by Pakistan to immunise their security for the terrorists sneaking from across the border.
On 19th November 2019, Lt Gen Faiz Hameed, the director-general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at the PM Office to discuss national security matters, the situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir and on the Pak-Afghan border. – inputs from Dawn.com
With the increasing tensions and contingent hostility with its South Asian neighbours, red line insurgencies, and headlong disputes, and a benumbed leader, India has apparently called for a war of its own.
