Social media is such a platform which, if used in a wise way can do tremendous positive things in just a click of a button. It was proved after a video of an 80-years-old poor couple surfaced the internet last day and went viral in no time. The couple owns a Dhaba with the name “Baba Ka Dhaba” in New Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area which was bringing them no surplus after the pandemic hit the entire nation.
80-year-old Kanta Prasad shared that he and his wife Badami Devi begin the work at 6:30 am in the morning and are ready with the day’s menu in two-three hours duration, daily. They serve dal, curry, parathas and rice which costs around Rs 30-50 a plate.
In the viral video, the owner of Dhaba is seen crying and narrating the hardships they have to face after the food they prepare in the hope to sell, at the end of the day remains as it is with no customers. Prior to the pandemic, the situation was good with decent revenue but post it, there have been barely any earning. The couple is in this business for 30 years. Sadly they get no help from any of their children.
The video was posted by a blogger Gaurav Vasan yesterday over his various social media platforms and from there to thousand other pages run by different admins extending their hands for the couples to bring a smile on their faces.
In just 24 hours, the video gained so much popularity and witnessed not just common people but many celebrities joining hands for a cause like this.
“We are very happy with the number of customers that are turning up now. We are grateful for the public support,” said Kanta Prasad after getting an unexpected response from their video.
“During the lockdown months, we could not sell anything. We struggled to survive but today we have been flooded with customers. We want to give our blessings to all those who helped us.” Kanta Prasad’s wife added.
As per the NDTV report Gaurav Vasan, who first posted the video on Instagram, was also at the Dhaba today. “When I came here yesterday I had goosebumps on listening to their plight. They had earned barely Rs 70 a day. They had come at 6:30 am to set up the shop and had spent Rs 500 but even after lunchtime, they had earned only Rs 70. So I decided to record and share the video to help them. I am overwhelmed by the kind of support that he has received since then. It is great that there are so many people who want to help this man struggling due to poverty, “.
Let’s see how common people and celebrities are coming forward to help this couple
