Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and UP Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi today arrested in Noida by the Uttar Pradesh police while marching to Hathras. Rahul, along with her sister and UP Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, was on his way to meet the family of the Hathras gang-rape victim who died Tuesday after being gang-raped and assaulted. His convoy was stopped by the UP police near Pari Chowk, after which he along with his party worker started walking on Yamuna Expressway.
Rahul Gandhi has alleged that the UP Police assaulted and manhandled him. While talking to media he said, he was lathi-charged by the Uttar Pradesh police personnel when he and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were walking towards Hathras. Rahul Gandhi alleges that the police threw him to the ground. He said, “Just now police pushed me, lathi-charged me and threw me to the ground. I want to ask, can only Modi Ji walk in this country? Can’t a normal person walk? Our vehicle was stopped, so we started walking.” In this order, Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have left to meet the families of Hathras victim.

Rahul Gandhi has taken into custody under Section 188 by the UP Police. Priyanka Gandhi while attacking Yogi Adityanath government said, “Around the same time last year, we were fighting for the Unnao daughter and the situation in UP has not changed in a year.” The Uttar Pradesh government, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath must take responsibility for women safety in the state and ensure atrocities against them are stopped, she added.
“Borders of Hathras are sealed. Section 144 of CrPC has been imposed in the district, more than 5 people are not allowed to gather”, Hathras DM P Lakshkar said as reported by news agency ANI.
