Tuesday was a day of a fast-paced developing political crisis in Rajasthan. Rebel Sachin Pilot, 42-year old leader sacked from both the posts of Rajasthan Deputy CM and state Congress chief and 18 other rebel Congress MLAs have been served notices by the Rajasthan Speaker C P Joshi after the party sought their disqualification from the state assembly on Tuesday.

Sacked Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot and the other MLAs have been asked to respond to the notices by Friday.
This is not something new in the history of Congress politics when Jyotiraditya Scindia quit the Congress in March this year, the Congress system dismissed him as a trouble-maker partyman And when Himanta Biswa Sarma left the Congress and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2015, the Congress system dismissed him as an overambitious leader.

AICC general secretary Avinash Pande said on Wednesday said the party has filed a petition before the Speaker for dismissal of such MLAs. If replies by the MLAs are not found to be justified, it is up to the Speaker to decide for action, he added.

In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday, Sachin Pilot said he was not allowed the dignity and space to work for Rajasthan’s development. Sachin Pilot said that soon after Rahul Gandhi stepped down as party chief, Ashok Gehlot and his friends stood ganged upon him.

The bureaucrats were asked not to follow my directives, files were not sent to me, Cabinet meetings and CLP meetings had not been held for months. What’s the worth of a position if that doesn’t allow me to fulfil the commitments I made to my people?” Sachin Pilot asked.

Following a revolt by Rajasthan president of Congress, BJP has sensed an opportunity but has also been extremely cautious while exploring the options ahead. Sources within BJP say that they are also waiting for the first move from Pilot.

Senior party leaders, including Vasundhara Raje, Rajendra Rathore, Gulabchand Kataria and Satish Poonia will be discussing various possibilities in the name of the open rebellion by Sachin Pilot as he has a strong hold on the Meena-Gujjar community and both communities have 8% vote share each in the state.

The top leaders of BJP, including Shekhawat and Vasundhara Raje, are unlikely to be comfortable with the idea of Sachin Pilot joining the BJP and thereafter becoming the chief minister of Rajasthan.

Sachin Pilot says hurt but not joining BJP after being sacked from party position in the first interview after the unceremonious sacking by Congress, Sachin Pilot exclusively spoke to India Today magazine.
