Repel Evil with Good, says Zakir Naik on tackling Islamophobia

The controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, responding to questions posed on social media for him, said that the Islamophobia in India has reached an epidemic level, especially after the formation of the new government in 2014 led by Mr. Narendra Modi.

When he was asked about the Islamophobia in India and how to tackle it, Mr. Naik said, “Repel evil with good. You may never know, the person who is your enemy becomes your friend. If they are abusing you, illogically blaming you, even then you be kind to them. You be good with them; you soften their hearts. That is what I did. That is why the majority of Hindus in India loved and some touched my feet supposing me an Avatar”.

He also spoke about backlash from Arab-countries which sent many individuals back to their homes on the charges of spreading Islamophobia in the region. Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have also warned Islamophobes that if they continue to spew venom against Islam they will be fined and kicked-out from their job and will be sent back to their respective countries.

Mr. Zakir said that the backlash should had come long before. He also advised the concerned authority to collect the data of the people who are envenoming Islam wherever in the world and file a case against them when they touch the gulf shores.

He said, there are more than 10 million Indians living in the Middle-East alone, and the major part of foreign exchange that comes to India is from Middle-East. And out of those people working in the Gulf countries, approximately 50% are Non-Muslims and most of the Non-Muslims are on the Higher post. He said that among the top 100 richest Indians according to Forbes, in the Middle-East, 80% are Non-Muslims citing his own survey.

He further said pointing at recent cases in India in which Mob forced Muslims to chant ‘Jai Shree Ram’, “I don’t know of any single case, in any of the Muslim countries where a Hindu is forced to say ‘Allahu Akbar’”.

Zakir Naik has also said that since the new government came in India, and the people in government created a campaign against me and criticized me for their political gain. “According to me, Most of the Indians, the Hindus, they love Muslims. Even today.”

Zakir Naik has been wanted in India for stirring extremism and money laundering. The controversial preacher is also accused of terror funding and provocative speech. Zakir has left India in 2016, subsequently, Malaysia has given him permanent citizenship.

The Indian government is requesting Malaysia for Naik’s extradition. The government is also negotiating with Interpol to issue a red corner notice against him.
