Slums of 13 Municipalities to get Mobile Medical Teams in Chhattisgarh

The Chhattisgarh government under Bhupesh Baghel’s leadership, launched 5 schemes on the 2nd October, 2020 to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. These schemes include Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyaan (Chief Minister Nutrition Scheme), Mukhyamantri Haat Bazaar Clinic Yojana (Chief Minister Market Clinic Scheme), Mukhyamantri Shahariya Slum Swasthya Yojana (Chief Minister Urban Slum Health Scheme), Universal PDS scheme and Mukhyamantri ward Karyalaya (Chief Minister Ward Offices). Some of these schemes ran on trials in the state to note the public response.

CM Urban Slum Health Scheme (The Mukhyamantri Shahariya Slum Swasthya Yojana) was launched in Chhattisgarh as per this scheme mobile medical teams equipped with doctors and paramedical personals will be available weekly in 13 municipal corporations of Chhattisgarh for a 6 hrs long duration, from 8 am to 2 pm and will be providing the people with health checkups, medical treatment facilities, and will also provide the beneficiaries with free medicines. This scheme will be catering to about 7 lakh 80 thousand people and providing them with free health care. According to Chief Minister, directives have been issued to set up three mobile medical teams in the Raipur Municipal Corporation, two each in Bhilai and Korba, and one each in the remaining 10 municipal corporations.
The committee headed by the Chief Secretary, R.P Madal will be responsible for the functioning of this scheme. The committee has proposed the expenses of 55 crore for the agenda.
The number of families residing in the 13 municipalities where the programme is implemented goes up to 1 lakh 71 thousand.
The Chief Minister has suggested the officials to publicise the scheme to encourage participation from NGO’s, local public representative and socio-religious organisations.
A similar scheme was implemented prior to the Mukhyamantri Shahariya Slum Swasthya Yojana, under the name of Mukhyamantri Haat Bazaar Clinic Yojana according to which similar mobile medical teams with doctors and general medical equipment visited Haat bazaars and other remote forest regions to provide those living in the forest with medical assistance since they a cover long distances to reach to villages for weekly organised haat bazaars.
