A youth has been arrested by Uttarakhand police for disturbing communal harmony and spreading rumours about the Tablighi Jamaat from Chamoli district, Uttrakhand. Chamoli Superintendent of Police told ANI, the boy is from Narayanbagad village in Chamoli district where police have arrested him.
He further said, he has been arrested for disturbing communal harmony as he made an objectional comment and spreading rumours regarding the Tablighi Jamaat. A case has been filed against him under Section 153A and 93A of the Indian Penal Code and IT act.
Many people who have attended the Tablighi Jamaat event, resulted in positive for COVID-19 including deaths in some states including Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Telangana. From the past few days of the spread of coronavirus epidemic, many fake news, and videos have been circulated in social media targeting the particular community.
The Uttrakhand Director General of Police on Sunday said, those who attended the event of Tablighi Jamaat, must come out within 24 hours or face prosecution for murder. The Health Ministry’s latest bulletin says, 31 people have been detected positive for COVID-19 including 30 cured and discharged. No COVID-19 death has been reported yet.
