Player Unknown’s Battleground, popularly known as PUBG a multiplayer online game has become an addiction for teens these days. One such kid is a 17 years old boy from Punjab who ended up spending 16 lakhs without his parents knowing, on the game. He did that by purchasing app items like ammunition, tournaments which are the virtual weapons mainly needed to upgrade one’s rank in the game.
Money was from his father’s account, the mother’s provident fund and his account as well. After the transaction, he very cleverly deleted all the messages regarding the transactions and also shuffled the money from one account to another to avoid any doubts of nil balance.
“After we received details from the bank, I found that on several occasions, he shuffled the amount from one bank to another to avoid nil balance. He was using his mother’s phone for quite some time and she was not much vigilant to notice this,” his father said.
His father has some ailment and hence was saving money for his future. The boy had all the bank details of his parents. “I had saved the money for my medical needs and my son’s future. During the lockdown, I was staying at the place of my posting, while my son was staying with my wife here. He used her mobile phone to make all transactions and would delete the message regarding amount debited from account,” the boy’s father added
According to the father the boy lied to them about using the phone for his online study and after this incident as a punishment the father has made him work at a scooter repair shop so that he gets to know the importance of money. “I just can’t let him sit idle at home and give him a mobile phone even for studying now. He is working at a scooter repair shop so that he realizes how hard it is to earn money. I am hopeless now as the money was saved for my son’s future.”
