Ever since the pandemic first broke out in the nation, it made our lives only difficult. Most of the professional workers were happy as they no longer had to go to work but this turned out to be a curse to the people experiencing immense workload as both working hours and home hours were merged together. Especially working women who have been suffering the worst as they have to deal with kids as well as household work along with the office load.

The LinkedIn Workforce Confidence Index conducted a survey to analyze the health and productivity of the workforce in India in terms of the ongoing pandemic. They found that working from home has been really tough for women both emotionally and mentally in India.

About 47% of women reported, suffering from more stress and anxiety due to the COVID-19 pandemic as opposed to 38% in men.

The survey also indicated that one in three women who are working from home are also providing childcare, amounting to 31%, compared to 1 in 5 men that amounts to 17%.

“Every 2 in 5 working mothers are working outside their business hours to look after their family and children. In fact, only one in five (20%) working mothers have help from their family or friends to take care of their children as opposed to 32% for men.” The survey said

“42% of mothers are unable to manage and concentrate on both works as well as kids. Whereas, 46% of mothers are working late-night to complete daily work targets.” The survey added

“One factor is balancing office and domestic work – the bulk of the latter being shouldered by women. Studies have revealed the men’s participation has increased during the pandemic, but women still spend most of the time caring for children.” Neha Bagaria, CEO of JobsForHer, commenting on the stress of work from home said in an interview with LinkedIn

Studies have shown that the workforce is working harder and for longer hours than before, but on the contrary, it also shows how work from home has become stressful for the professionals during this pandemic.
