When it comes to remakes, one of the most difficult problems is avoiding parallels to the original content. Director Gowtam Tinnauri deserves credit for capturing the soul of Nani’s Jersey in this Shahid Kapoor-led film. Shahid Kapoor’s character is easy to identify with, yet never plays the victim. Jersey is the story of a common man with massive ambitions.

Former Ranji Cricket player Arjun Talwar (Shahid Kapoor), frustrated with his life away from the dressing room, chooses to return to the sport at the age of 36 to show his value to his wife Vidhya (Mrunal Thakur) and to remain a hero for his school-aged kid (Ronit Kamra). 1. Pankaj Kapur and Shahid Kapoor share screen time

It’s always a treat to see the great father-son team share screen time. Shahid and Pankaj will be sharing screen time in Jersey as well.

Shahid can be seen holding Pankaj in one shot from the teaser, and it is a sad yet wonderful scene. The scene shows great father-son bonding.

2. Shahid Kapoor expressing his biggest fear to Mrunal Thakur

Nobody is more powerless than a father who lacks the financial means to grant his son’s dream. Shahid is in this dilemma since he does not have enough money to buy his kid a jersey for his birthday present.

Shahid expresses his greatest worry to his wife in this section, that he does not want his son to view him in the same manner that others do.

3. Shahid Kapoor’s entry into the cricket ground

Shahid Kapoor seems to be a real-life cricketer in the scene as he enters the cricket pitch with the crowd clapping and applauding for him.

This scene is one of the best things in the whole movie. 

4. Mrunal Thakur slapping Shahid Kapoor

Imagine a wife’s frustration when she feels compelled to slap her own husband.

Well, this scene, in which Shahid’s character steals money from his wife’s wallet and she catches him red-handed, enrages her to the point of slapping her husband.

The expressions on Shahid’s face, as well as Mrunal’s rage, add to the realism of the situation.

5. Shahid Kapoor yelling and unleashing his anger next to a passing train

A man who has been unemployed for a long time and has been subjected to taunts from practically everyone is sure to get upset.

When his own wife does not comprehend his condition and does not provide him with emotional support, he becomes frustrated to the point of going insane.

Shahid’s powerlessness is eloquently captured in this scene, where he tries to cover his scream amidst a speeding train while venting his fury and anguish.

The directing of Gowtam Tinnanuri is excellent. Because of Shahid Kapoor’s outstanding performance, the protagonist’s agony and struggle come across very effectively. Giving the viewers a pure feel of the movie. The movie Jersey was filled with great dialogue and scenes. Some of the wonderful scenes from Jersey are listed above.
