Every year with the declaration of UPSC results we read stories of successful aspirants who with their hard work and firm determination, pass the exam with shining colours. Just another example is Indore’s, Pradeep Singh, whose family sold their house so that their kid can have the respected IAS tag.
With his father’s little income as a petrol pump attendant, it was fairly difficult for them to support his studies, so they sold their house and shifted to a rented one. Their struggles didn’t go in vain, as he secured an all-India rank of 26 in the civil services examination 2019.
The results of the exams were announced on Tuesday by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), with 829 candidates being recommended for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) and other civil services.
“I had secured 93rd position in my first attempt in 2018 but missed being selected for IAS by just one slot. So I worked much harder this time,” 23-year-old Singh told news agency PTI.
His father has been working as a petrol pump attendant for 28 years now before starting his small transport business last year. He was proud of his son’s success in the toughest exams of the country.
“By the grace of Lord Mahakaleshwar, my son has become an IAS officer,” He said.
He was selected in Indian Revenue Services in 2018 and was taking training in Nagpur’s National Direct Taxes Academy and took leave to prepare for the awaited IAS tag.
“Life was full of struggle till college as my father worked as a petrol pump attendant and his salary was much less than our household expenses. However, from Class VII, I had decided I would become an IAS officer. With time, my resolve got stronger and I worked harder to achieve my dream,” He told PTI.
The story of Pradeep might sound a simple one but the hardships that he faced cannot be imagined. A person who decides to become a part of India’s most reputed and respectable profession right from his school is worth praising. He didn’t let his parents down, their sacrifices go in vain and TSA salutes such people and urge our readers to become like Pradeep.
