In regard to the claims by the Patanjali to have found a 100 % cure of Coronavirus, Ramdev and four others associates of the Company have been served with a legal notice and an FIR has been lodged against them under section 420 (Cheating) of IPC in Jaipur. The other four include Patanjali CEO Acharya Balkrishna, Varshney, a Scientist at Patanjali Ayurved and Balbir Tomar, and Anurag Tomar, the Chairman and Director of the Jaipur-based NIMS University respectively.

The complaint was filed at Jyoti Nagar police station for allegedly making false and misleading guarantees about the newly invented medicine (Coronil) for Coronavirus without informing the Centre nor the State government of Rajasthan about it.

“Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna and three others were booked under section 420 (Cheating) of Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisement) Act, 1954, as per the FIR lodged by an advocate Balbir Jakhar.” Said, Avinash Parashar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Jaipur

Balbir Jakhar, the advocate who had filed complained against Ramdev and four others informed the media that all five on definite grounds “reeks of criminal intent” and have endangered common people’s life by making false claims.

“On June 23 Ramdev held a press conference in Patanjali Research Institute, Haridwar. Many people were on the stage during the conference and they claimed that they have developed a cure. Coronil, for Coronavirus and it will make COVID-19 positive patients negative within three days. The AYUSH Ministry and Centre have refuted these claims and asked all documents related to these claims and till date, it has not verified that the medicine fulfils the parameters of WHO and AYUSH.” Jakhar said.

“Therefore, this attempt reeks of criminal intent and an FIR has been lodged by me against them.” He added

Patanjali on Tuesday launched its Divya Corona Kit and claimed its success on any Covid-19 patient within seven days. However, the AYUSH ministry showed its unawareness and stopped its advertising within a few hours.

CEO of the Company Acharya Balkrishna in defending stated that all procedures were followed to manufacture Coronil and they have done nothing wrong while obtaining the license.
