Ayush ministry has shunned Patanjali down over their exorbitant claims on curing coronavirus by asking them to hand over the details of the medicine Coronil and Swasari and to stop its advertising.
Claims by Patanjali
1- Through this groundbreaking medicine, Patanjali claims to have found the first Ayurvedic solution for coronavirus that not only prevents it but also cures it.
2- According to their clinical trial involving 100 people who tested positive for the virus, 65% were cured within 3 days and 100% within 7 days.
3- Coronil and Swasari have a 0% death rate and within a week’s time the market will hit the market.
ICMR the apex medical body has declined to look into the new cure offered by Patanjali stating that they don’t deal with Ayurvedic medicines.
Ayush ministry’s response
Before the world could respond, our government’s Ayush ministry clarified that they have no knowledge of this medicine and have launched a detailed analysis of the medicine. They have asked Patanjali to share the details of the medicine- components used, clinical trial information, which hospital the trial took place, where the research was conducted, and registered and trial sample size.
The government has also asked for the licensing papers from the Uttrakhand government, where the company is based. In response to the investigation, an official of the Uttarakhand government states that the company did not mention they were developing a drug for the coronavirus disease while applying for a license.
Till the claims are proven, the government has asked Patanjali to stop advertising and promoting their corona kit.
With every notification of a new peak hit by the virus, people are all the more desperate for a cure of this seemingly never-ending apocalypse. And so when a company endorsed by Baba Ramdev, who holds an abundance of social capital and influence comes out with a cure to end this misery, people will believe him and it is for the government to protect us.
